The 100 Years Club Installment #50: And to All a Good Night
Reading Time: 2 minutesSo, here we are at Installment #50 of “The 100 Years Club.”
Although I started this series when I turned 66, I re-named it from Route 66 to a title that will last me for at least three more decades.
In February (about 50 days from now), I turn 68.
I’m more creative, focused, calm, and healthy (mentally and physically) than I’ve ever been.
Learning to avoid narcissists and energy vampires, I have built a community of true friends and allies and upped my mentoring skills. I’ve grown comfortable being alone and am quick to kindly reject toxic forces that mess up my life and headspace.
But, as I often say, “Enough about ME.”
Every day we have an opportunity to start over.
We have a chance to act a little better and do more (or do things differently) than we did the day before.
But the hard part is always figuring out where you want to go and how you’re going to get there.
No matter what your denomination or belief system is, treat yourself to a “silent night” before 2024 begins, think about what you REALISTICALLY can achieve in the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
You may not get a visitation from the ghosts of past, present, and future to guide your way.
But the spirits in your own brain and soul (and perhaps those spirits on your bar cart) can inform how you choose to behave going forward.
Start small (like my buddy the elf) and believe in tiny miracles and baby steps toward your future.
You’ll never accomplish great things if all you do is sit and whine and watch the world go by. Find your inner tinsel and start to shine.
Here’s to the next 50 (or more!) Happy holidays all!
