Are Grandmothers Trending?

Last year, Coastal Grandmother and Granny Nighties & Granny Prints were considered hot fashion aesthetics.
On some level I’m flattered that, as a grandmother, my status is being acknowledged by lifestyle media.
But that’s superficial. And it’s frankly kind of insulting.
Although I do indulge in analog activities like crafts and cooking, the implication that ALL grandmothers are like those of previous generations is absurd.
Procreation status and chronological age should have nothing to do with consumer behavior. Here are the facts:

Ageism and Myopic Marketing Are Rampant
The sad reality is that many hiring managers and marketers still have limited views of the business and financial opportunity that exists within this target market.
I call us the “Triple Spenders” because we buy for ourselves, our kids, and our grandkids.
And we have at least $15T to invest in consumer products, technology, travel and entertainment, and real estate.
So, please stop trying to sell me incontinence products and walk-in showers and market to me like a vibrant, curious human.
