My Screens Did Strange Things to My Brain: BODIES & BOTS #24

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Let’s Get Our Heads in Balance!

This week, I pulled out my old hot pink spiral notebook and started writing again with a gel pen. My handwriting has gotten a little sloppy, but the whole process felt REALLY good.

Then, when work was done, I needlepointed. I’ve been reading a (paper) book each week.

I love AI, but my sleep and mood were hinting (maybe even screaming) that I need to “unplug” and focus more on my 70/30 system (70% analog time and only 30% in the digital world). For more about the evolution of our brains, check out my Substack this week.

I’ve been working on my AI-powered serial digital comic book self-help memoir and knocked out a chapter, so I spent a little too many minutes staring at my laptop. I wrote all the prose myself and used AI just for proofreading and graphics.

The 70/30 Rule is also based on the realization that I am 70, plan to spend another 30 years on the planet, and choose to spend more of it with humans and having new experiences rather than thinking about and hanging out with my HOT BOTS.

So, how did we get here? See the chart, below.

But, more importantly, if you’re up to 13 hours, perhaps it’s time to think more about YOUR life and brain!

This post is deliberately pithy. Going forward, my weekly blog will be super-short.

After all, I have things to do in the “real world.”

P.S. What’s a HOT BOT?  Think digital assistant meets comic book character…built to help me navigate work, travel, life, and (most important) time management. Good tech, not brain-sucking evil tech! Follow me on Substack for our adventures.
