The 100 Years Club Installment #112: What/Who Are My 100 Loves?
Reading Time: 2 minutesIn an era when hate seems everywhere, “Put a little love in your heart.”
To kick off February (which also happens to be my birthday month and the launch of something exciting on the 10th), I’m committing to banishing the word “hate” from my vocab and focusing on those things that bring me (and others) joy, inspiration, excitement, and (dare I say) passion.
That’s not to say I can only look at the world through rose-colored glasses.
But I have found that when I focus on those things and people I adore, I am less stressed, more optimistic, and ultimately kinder to myself and others.
Starting 10+ years ago, I made a list of 100 things I love (or like a lot).
This month, I pulled up that list on Google Docs and updated it with some of my newer loves; the things and people that give me faith in society and life.
These are things that I can usually control or seek out when I’m feeling sad or anxious.
The exercise of making the list is uplifting in itself.
You realize that no matter what’s happening in the world around us, small joys, activities, and certain people will always put a smile on our faces or make our pulse race a little faster.
My list ranges from simple things (like flavored coffee) to aspirational adventures like long-distance travels. Some things (live concerts, movies) are easy to control. Others depend on the actions of others. The best 100 list is a balance of all those categories.
I’m embarking on a new phase of my work and life in 2025.
Watch this space on February 10th (my birthday) for a big announcement.
And make your own “100 Things” list in February.
You’ll put a little love in your heart!
