The 100 Years Club Installment #160: Buh Bye & Hello!
Reading Time: 2 minutesWho Will Survive the AI Invasion of 2026?
I’ve seen many films in which robots and smart computers made gigantic mistakes and killed off humans. Fear-mongering abounds these days in real life too.
Twenty years ago, when I started mastering social media and translating it into business results for a variety of brands, I faced hecklers at my speaking gigs who poo-pooed it or called it a “fad.”
Through any time of massive change, alarmists and naysayers freeze up or rage against automation and transformation, claiming it will destroy the fiber of society.
And some of that may, in fact, be true if left uncontrolled by us flesh-and-blood beings.
But I’ve always seen innovation as a door to new worlds, rather than merely a threat to my job or life. I’ve learned as much as possible, entered the room early on, and figured out how to apply changes to my own way of life and work.
Who better to help lead this movement than digital pioneers like me who have seen many eras of change and have contributed to tech applications?
We’re not talking here about the ability to code.
In fact, women are massively under-represented in the STEM world, and many people 50+ are being
retired against their will or overlooked when positions are being filled. That’s why people like me (tech-savvy humanists and women) need to become smarter and louder (in a gentle way, of course).
The Beginning…
When I launched this blog series back in 2014, it was mostly about breaking rules to grow businesses and the impact of pop culture. Then, it morphed into a discussion of aging and longevity. During that time, I published a book on AI (in 2017) and began exploring a wide range of new technologies that improved my life. In 2021, the 100 Years Club was born, and (as the title implies), it’s now at 160 installments and growing.
Although my body shrank last year (thanks to the miracle of GLP-1 drugs), my brain and skills continue to expand, as AI proliferates. It won’t replace me…it’ll augment me!
What’s Next?
Watch for a new iteration of this series, launching with the next installment.
It will, I trust, inspire and teach you how to remain involved and confident in the AI-powered era, finding the agents and skills you need to survive and thrive. I’ve brought back the title “Bodies & Bots,” a concept I created in 2018. (It was originally Bots & Bodies, but I decided to lead with humans this time!)
I will continue to be provocative, blunt, and a bit snarky.
And perhaps a year from now, you’ll be able to answer the question in the first line of this post with, “Hey…I’m a human, and I’m still here!”
P.S. Before midnight on Monday, January 5th, please subscribe to my Substack and I’ll send you a FREE copy of my 2025 Annual Report, created mostly via AI (with oversight from yours truly, a Robot Overlady for all eras!) Like this blog, that series will also be morphing into something new, cool, and useful!
