The 100 Years Club Installment #128: School’s Out for Summer

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Yeah, we’re all adults here.

And, unless you’re invested in continuing education or you teach summer classes, the final bell has rung, and many of us are heading out for a few months of fun and relaxation (along with our work, of course).

Unlike little kids, we don’t get the whole summer off to play. The conference season is still in full swing, and two of my June jaunts involve attendance at gatherings. Plus, I have four active clients.

See next week’s post to get a sneak preview of my summer plans and tips for enjoying YOUR hot months.

But before the season of BBQs and beaches begins, take a quick peek in the rearview mirror and ask yourself:

How did YOU do this “school year?”

  1. Math (Your P&L and personal finances)
  2. Science (AI, of course!)
  3. HASS: Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (How tuned in are you to the historical and social factors affecting your work and life, and the people who impact them?
  4. Gym (Keeping yourself physically fit)
  5. English Language Arts (How we communicate, share content, and tell stories)
  6. Electives & Vocational Skills (Whether you like to dabble in the kitchen, travel to new places, attempt stand-up comedy, or simply binge-watch the latest series, the things we do outside of serious activities and responsibilities keep us interesting and vibrant.)
  7. Parties & Prom (No…they aren’t really required classes, but check yourself and make sure you’re spending enough time celebrating and socializing with people who bring you joy and insights.)

Give yourself a grade on each and then rip up your metaphorical report card and set goals for the future.

One of my personal “electives” (see #6) is building out a personal brand. Enjoy this brief recap of what we did over the past 31 days.

Now, back to YOU!

Whether you ended the “semester” strong or you need to repeat a class or two, make sure you don’t look back in September and feel like you didn’t have enough fun, learning, and growth this summer!

Here are some fun tips for making the next 90 days the best possible season.
